CNC lathe boot, must be back to zero (reference point) operation, its purpose is to establish CNC lathe position measurement, control, display of a unified benchmark, that is, the tool back to the origin of the machine tool, the origin of the machine tool usually in the maximum positive stroke, its position is determined by the machine tool position sensor.

After the machine tool back to zero, the position of the tool (tip) and the distance from the origin of the machine tool is fixed. Therefore, for the convenience of the tool and processing, the position of the tip of the machine tool back to zero is regarded as the origin of the machine tool. Because the spindle does not need to turn the cutting, this method will not leave marks on the workpiece surface, but the tool accuracy is not high enough.

Using edge finder, eccentric rod and shaft setting tool method
The procedure is similar to using the test cutting tool set method, except that the tool is replaced with a side finder or eccentric bar, which is the most common method. High efficiency, can ensure the accuracy of the tool. Care must be taken when using the edge finder to make the ball part slightly in contact with the workpiece. At the same time, the workpiece to be processed must be a good conductor and the positioning datum surface has a good surface roughness. Z-axis setters are generally used for transfer (indirect) tool setting.
